Next Saturday February 19th we will be celebrating our President’s Cup, one of Atalaya’s major annual tournaments.

The tournament, which will be played under the Individual Stableford format, will take place on the Old Course and will start at 8:18am on Saturday. The event has an entry fee of 5€.

We have spoken to Richard Phillimore, President of Atalaya Golf & Country Club, to ask him about the tournament. Here is what he told us:

What are your expectations on the tournament? 

  • The President’s Cup typically attracts more than 100 players and being as unique as it is on the Coast, Atalaya has attracted 36 different nationalities, which provides a dynamic ambiance to the club.
  • We look forward to deliver a competitive golf tournament for a prestigious trophy, supported by a four course dinner and special prizes.

How many players can enter the tournament?

  • The maximum is 120.
  • Participants have to be fully paid shareholders of Atalaya, although guest can play too but they will not qualify to receive prizes.

Who is going to be delivering the entertainment?

After the tournament, there will be a dinner dance in the evening with live entertainment . This year Amelinde will be singing. She is a regular and popular performer at La Sala Banus and other local venues.

What are the prizes for the winners?

  • The winner receives the President’s Trophy and a Golfriend’s voucher for €50
  • There are five divisional prizes(based on handicaps), three divisions for men and two for ladies, awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each division.
  • Prizes will include wine and valuable Golfriend’s vouchers.
