Atalaya Golf is very excited about our latest junior golfer, Roy Willemsen, who exploded onto the golfing scene in 2023.A remarkable run of successes saw Roy win four of his last five tournaments, as noted below:

– Toro Tour Costa del Sol Winter Series, Spain (All Ages) in Dec 2023
– Triple A European Championship, Spain (Junior) in Dec 2023
– Triple A European Masters, Spain (Junior) in Nov 2023
– Rijnmond Open, The Netherlands (All Ages) in Aug 2023

Roy is definitely an up-and-coming junior golfer to watch, and this is how he feels about his recent victories. “The last wins felt incredible especially winning three events in a row! It was very exciting and a lot of fun playing against some great players from around Europe. It was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to see what lies in the future.”

Roy has an ambitious dream to be the first Dutch winner of a PGA major. He is currently seeking a sports scholarship in a U.S. Division One University as a concrete step towards this goal. In the meantime, he sharpens his game by hitting the fairways at least three times a week after school at the club, so say hello if you see him.

The club has a long tradition of supporting young players who have gone on to make a name for themselves in the golfing world, including LPGA tour winner Azahara Muñoz, Thomas Milone, Tina Mazzarino, and Valentina Albertazzi, as well as our junior star Cristina Albertazzi. We are always willing to help local talent achieve their dreams in the golfing world and give them whatever assistance they need.

Atalaya Golf is the perfect venue for golfers to practise and improve their game, with two very different championship courses and one of the finest teaching centres on the coast, at the PG Golf Academy. We will be keeping a very close eye on Roy and his game and Atalaya is proud to be his sponsor.
