Remésy at Atalaya Golf

During the month of November, Atalaya Golf & Country Club welcomed French golf professional Jean-François Remésy to our facilities. Remésy enjoyed several rounds on our championship Old Course with our member Edouard Boitour.

While spending time with our general manager Andrés Sánchez Garcia, Remésy expressed how impressed he is with the design of the Old Course, as well as its high standard of maintenance.

Remésy’s golf career spans more than 30 years. After winning the French Amateur Championship in 1985, he turned professional in 1987. His first professional win came in 1991. In 1999 he was ranked for the first time in the top 100 on the European Tour Order of Merit.

In 2004 Remésy won the Open de France, being the first Frenchman to win the tournament in 35 years. After a challenging playoff against Jean van de Velde, he captured the title for a second time in 2005.

When he turned 50 in 2014, Remésy started playing senior golf, both on the PGA Tour Champions (https://www.pgatour.com/champions.html) and on the European Senior Tour, now known as the Legends Tour, (https://www.europeantour.com/legends-tour/).

His first European senior victory was in 2018 at the Swiss Seniors Open. In 2019 he won his second senior European tournament at the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship.

Remésy often travels to the Costa and has promised to return to Atalaya soon. We cannot wait. The entire Atalaya family is ready and waiting to once again greet him with open arms.
