Rising stars Cristina and Valentina Albertazzi, proudly sponsored by Atalaya Golf & Country Club, placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Female Scratch category at the Almería City Championship. The three-day, stroke play tournament was held at Alborán Golf on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 27th, 28th and 29th of November.

Eighty-seven of the best amateurs from the whole of Spain competed in this important tournament. All were there to show off their talents. With four categories – Male Scratch, Female Scratch, Knights Handicap, and Handicap Ladies – the event is a qualifier for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (https://www.wagr.com/).

As you can see from the photos, Cristina spent the weekend as a true ambassador for Atalaya, proudly wearing her white golf shirt embellished by the Atalaya logo.

Not only did Cristina place Seventh in the Female Scratch category, she walked away with first place honours in the Female Handicap category. Her three-day total was 203 (-13). Only four strokes behind and placing second in the ladies’ handicap division was Julia (Lucia) Morales Sánchez with a total of 207 (-9).

Julia just happens to be the daughter of Atalaya’s longtime, staff member Antonio Morales. Antonio is the guy who very often takes care of your every need when ordering at the kiosk. He really knows how to make a great cup of hot coffee that truly hits the spot, especially now that our days are cooler.

We at Atalaya extend hardy congratulations to all three of our up and coming young lady golf stars. Never do we forget the importance of promoting and supporting junior golf. Cristina, Valentina, and Julia are perfect examples of why this outreach is so important.
