At 09h00 sharp on Sunday morning the 27th of December, neighbours knew something special was happening at Atalaya Golf & Country Club. The “shotgun” blast was loud. Their thoughts – but why a golf tournament today, only two days after Christmas? The answer – a tournament to honour 25 years of Costa del Sol Golf News – the only publication on the Costa dedicated entirely to golf.

This year was the 12th time in its 25 years of existence that Costa del Sol Golf News has chosen Atalaya as the venue for its annual, anniversary tournament. Certainly, this choice speaks very positively about the high quality of golf that Atalaya provides to the Costa del Sol.

More than 100 area golfers participated in Sunday’s Old Course event. The format was an 18-hole, pairs better ball – the perfect after Christmas challenge with less pressure than an individual qualifying competition. The after play celebration, toned down this year to comply with current social distancing and crowd gathering protocols, included a prize giving cocktail.

Costa del Sol Golf News is a bimonthly publication with both an online presence and a printed circulation of 6,000. The print edition is distributed regularly to all Costa del Sol golf clubs, as well as to many golf courses throughout Andalucía. The print edition can also be found in hotels, restaurants, golf shops and most other Costa businesses that have relationships with the golfing sector. The online version is available at: http://costadelsolgolfnews.com.

According to Edward MacLean CDSGN editor: “If you want to know the latest about the Costa del Sol golf scene, Golf News is the place to go.” Truly it is where the action is.

Atalaya Golf & Country Club takes pride in supporting CDSGN and its efforts to provide news and information to the Costa del Sol golfing community. We look forward to CDSGN’s return to Atalaya next year to celebrate 26 years of success.
