At Atalaya Golf, we remain firmly committed to excellence. That’s why the New Course will be temporarily closed from June 23 to July 4 to carry out a series of key maintenance and improvement works.
These carefully planned actions aim to ensure the course remains in optimal playing conditions throughout the year, reinforcing our commitment to delivering a high-quality golf experience.
What improvements are being made?
Greens
- Hollow tine aeration and topdressing with silica sand to improve surface health.
- Application of agricultural gypsum to correct salt buildup.
- Bermuda turf is showing strong root development thanks to prior fertilization and the use of a 3,000 kg roller.
Fairways and Roughs
- Hollow tine aeration and topdressing with coarse sand to enhance drainage and soil aeration.
- Trenching (12 cm x 2 cm) with specialized machinery, backfilled with sand to strengthen drainage in critical areas.
Greenside Bunkers
- Complete renovation of the base using cement-rubber, preventing erosion and improving drainage performance.
- Full sand replacement and internal drainage upgrades.
Irrigation System
- Thorough inspection and adjustment of sprinkler nozzles, and complete software reprogramming.
- The system is now operating in optimal condition to meet summer demands.
Tree Pruning
- Selective pruning to increase sunlight exposure on the greens, essential for Bermuda grass, which requires temperatures above 18 °C and abundant sun to remain healthy, especially during winter months.
These efforts reflect our ongoing dedication to professional course maintenance and continuous improvement of the our golf courses—so that all members and visitors can enjoy a playing surface that consistently meets their expectations.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust. We look forward to welcoming you back on the course very soon!
