For many golfers, the best days are the ones spent outdoors — and they are even better when your four-legged companion can be part of them.
At Atalaya Golf & Country Club, we understand that dogs are part of the family. That is why well-behaved dogs are welcome on our golf courses and in designated outdoor areas of the clubhouse, giving members and players the opportunity to enjoy their time at the club without always having to leave their pets at home.
Located in Estepona, Málaga, close to Marbella and in the heart of the Costa del Sol, Atalaya combines 36 holes of golf with an international club atmosphere — and being a pet-friendly golf club is another way we aim to make the club feel like a place to belong. Atalaya also identifies “Pet Friendly Golf Club” as one of the benefits of membership.
Can I bring my dog to Atalaya Golf?
Yes. Dogs are welcome at Atalaya Golf for members and players, provided that the club’s dog policy is respected.
Dogs must remain on a short leash at all times while on the golf course. This ensures that they stay close to their owners without disturbing other golfers or entering playing areas.
They should also remain quiet and calm throughout the round. Barking, chasing wildlife or distracting other players is not permitted.
Responsible ownership is an essential part of keeping Atalaya enjoyable for everyone. Owners must always clean up after their dogs and help preserve the appearance and condition of the golf course.
Where can dogs go on the golf course?
While dogs can accompany players around the course, certain areas need additional protection.
Dogs are not permitted on greens or in bunkers, as these are sensitive playing surfaces that can be easily damaged.
Keeping dogs away from these areas allows golfers to enjoy the experience of bringing their pets while maintaining the course standards expected at Atalaya Golf.
A pet-friendly clubhouse experience
A round at Atalaya does not always finish on the 18th green.
Dogs are welcome on the two outdoor terraces of the restaurant, making it possible to relax after golf with your pet beside you.
For the comfort of all members and guests, dogs cannot enter the interior of the restaurant. On the terraces, they should remain leashed beside their owner and behave calmly.
Dogs should not bark, beg for food, play with other dogs, jump onto furniture or guests, sit on chairs, or eat from restaurant plates.

Owners are also asked to ensure their dogs are clean and well groomed before visiting the terrace areas.
The same principles apply from the moment you arrive. Dogs must remain on a leash in the car park, stay calm and quiet, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after them immediately.
There is also one important exception to remember: dogs are not permitted during qualifying tournaments. Players taking part in these competitions should therefore make alternative arrangements for their pets.
Golf is better when everyone feels welcome
Being a pet-friendly golf club on the Costa del Sol is about more than simply allowing dogs onto the property. It is about finding the right balance between welcoming pets, respecting fellow golfers and protecting the golf course.
At Atalaya Golf & Country Club, responsible dog ownership makes it possible for members and players to share more of their club life with their four-legged companions.
Because sometimes the perfect golf day includes one more member of the group — even if they are not carrying a golf bag.
