Gary left has grown up with the idea of winning the British open as his father had been the official engraver of the claret jug for more than forty years.
Gary turned professional in 1975 and joined the European tour in 76, the same time as Jeff (centre) Jeff won the Jersey open, his first European tour event in 1983 and Gary won the Kenyan open two years later 1985.
Jeff competed on the European tour for fourteen years before taking a coaching job in Italy, now living in Marbella Jeff combines coaching with competing on the European senior tour and running his real estate business.
Gary's dreams of winning the Open may have faded but he is more involved than most of us could ever dream of, he has followed in his fathers footsteps getting his hands on the claret jug more times than any other person.
Gary has now been engraving the claret jug for the last fourteen years and will be at St Andrews this July mixing with the best players in the world.
