Sponsored by Estepona based Cali Artraex 2004 SI and Cancelada based Jamena Construcciones SL the II CALI TROPHY was played on Atalaya's challenging Old Course on Saturday, October 28th.

More than 80 golfers competed in three categories in the 18-hole event.

Thirty-two golfers played in the Medal Play Division. Handicap range was 13.4 and lower. First Place was captured by Francisco Javier Cáceres Carrasco of Estebbuna Golf with a score of 73. Second, Third, and Fourth place winners, whose scores were also 73, were determined in lower handicap order. Aurelio Rodríguez López of Estebbuna Golf placed Second. Third and Fourth places went to Atalaya's Francisco Beltrán Calderón and Phillipe Janssen of the Andalusian Golf Federation, respectively.

Fifty players competed in the Stableford Division. Handicap range for this category was 13.5 and upwards. Adrián Vega Avilés of Atalaya Golf placed First with 43 points. Juan M. Sedeño Montes, Francisco Sedeño Montes, and Pedro Ángel Fraile Aranda, each of whom carded 42 points, placed Second, Third, and Fourth, respectively, in lower handicap order.

The tournament’s third and most prestigious category is the Scratch Division. Patterned after Augusta's Masters Tournament, the Scratch Division requires participants to play on a zero handicap basis. The prize for this category is, also, patterned after Augusta, with the winner receiving the CALI TROPHY'S symbolic red jacket.

Last year's Scratch winner Andoni Basterrechea Palacios of Atalaya Golf presented the red jacket to this year's Scratch winner David Chacón Quirós of Estebbuna Golf at Saturday evening's awards ceremony.

Atalaya Golf & Country Club is honoured to have been chosen as this year’s venue for the II CALI TROPHY and welcomes all players and their guests to the Club for many more exciting and fun filled rounds.
